Inauguration of Pro UN Ensemble Blog

Pro UN Ensemble is an international group of artists from all disciplines that have come together to lend their talents in the form of concerts and projects that have as their theme the universal issues of human rights, international health issues and the environment.  Working in conjunction with diplomatic core of various countries, private foundations and various commissions within The United Nations, Pro Un Ensemble seeks to give artistic voice to the ideals and issues that are pertinent to The United Nations, and the world wide dialogue concerning social justice and all solutions offered that help lead to a dignified life for all peoples.

Composer Pablo Peláez

Founded by Spanish composer Pablo Peláez (http://www.gotasdeltiempo.org/)   the Pro UN Ensemble had its New York City debut on September 7 of 2011 at the lobby of The United Nations, with SPES – A Hymn to Hope, a work for orchestra, chorus and soloists.  The work commemorated the aperture for the inaugural meeting of the commission for the rights of persons with disabilities, led by the Permanent Mission of Spain to the United Nations.

Maestro Pascual Osa

Spanish conductor Pascual Osa (http://www.pascualosa.com/) led the performance with Venezuelan tenor Alain Damas and Spanish soprano Rosa Miranda.  A 30 piece orchestra and a choir of 30 voices enacted SPES – A Hymn to Hope.

The success of SPES at The United Nations has led to a re engagement of this same work in December of 2012, which will take place at the General Assembly Hall of The United Nations, with the return of Mstro. Pascual Osa in a reprise of SPES – A Hymn of Hope.

Pro UN Ensemble Orchestra, Chorus and Soloists

The Gabarron Foundation (http://www.gabarronfoundation.org/) graciously put at our disposal their beautiful headquarters in New York City, as we took our first foot steps in the inaugural concert of SPES at The United Nations. The orchestra, chorus and soloists met at the Gabarron Carriage House Center for the Arts on East 38th Street for our initial rehearsals and dress rehearsal performance of SPES.  The Gabarron Foundation, founded by Spanish painter and sculptor Cristobal Gabarron, seeks to promote social consciousness through the arts, with an emphasis on the links between Spain and Iberoamerica.
